About Little Yew Tree

Little Yew Tree was established by Gregory Ahlijian in 2010 to support the children he teaches at Jasper Mountain Center. With his efforts through the sales of The Large Rock and The Little Yew, more than $110,000 was raised and used to build the children a new all-weather multi-use recreational facility. It is Gregory's mission to expand this successful model throughout the US for other nonprofit children's agencies.  For more information on how Little Yew Tree can help your organization, contact us. We'd love to hear from you.

Author Gregory Ahlijian

Author and arborist Greg Ahlijian is a volunteer at Jasper Mountain Center in Jasper, Oregon, where he teaches children about nature, trees, character development, poetry, and elephants. He has traveled to Africa several times to photograph the continent's wildlife, in particular his favorite - elephants.

Drawing inspiration from these passions and from the children at Jasper Mountain Center, Greg authored two books.  The Large Rock and the Little Yew is a story about self-discovery and overcoming hardships with a message that there is honor in meeting and overcoming life's challenges.  The second book,  An Elephant Would Be Wonderful, is a beautifully illustrated poem about elephants for the young reader.
